Canadian Sanctions
Include a variety of measures (inadmissibility to Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (travel ban), arms embargoes, technical assistance prohibitions, export and import restrictions, asset freezes and financial restrictions). Sanctions must be respected by any person located in Canada and Canadians located or engaged in activities abroad.
Sanctions Objectives
Sanctions objectives are varied. The Canadian government endeavours to apply sanctions judiciously, in a targeted fashion and in coordination with allies. Objectives including ending/limiting violence, stopping WMD proliferation, decrying human rights abuses and more.
Timeframe
The timeframe is the range of years that the sanctions were/are in force for Canada.

Autonomous sanctions:
Special Economic Measures Act (SEMA), and Justice for Victims of Corrupt Foreign Officials Act (JVCFOA) - also referenced as the Magnitsky Act
